Is Windows 7 cool? I think so. Windows 7 contains so many new features, some of which seem small when you first read about them, but in use make Windows 7 a great operating system to use.
Techradar have compiled a list of "18 Cool Things Windwos 7 Does That Vista Doesn’t" :
  1. Shake ‘em away
  2. Jumplists
  3. A step forward in previewing
  4. Snap into place
  5. XP Mode
  6. An easier and quicker way to adjust multiple displays
  7. A personalised Stage for your device
  8. (Almost) eliminate the notification area!
  9. Problem Steps Recorder
  10. New Magnifer tool
  11. A new way to preview your music files (I didn’t know about this one!)
  12. Homegroup Networking
  13. Stream music directly to another computer
  14. Action Center
  15. Pin anything to Taskbar
  16. Improved Touch Navigation
  17. Native ISO Burner
  18. Native calibration tools

The FSF has created a website, Windows 7 Sins, that lists the reasons why Windows 7 is evil.

The site makes the usual anti-Microsoft arguments – Monopoly, Standards, Lock In and Privacy. Although almost from the day Microsoft was incorporated it has carried out some less than wholesome activities, its products do work very well and Windows 7 is a great example of how Microsoft occasionally does make fantastic products.
As we’ve seen in the mobile and browser space, if better products become available like the iPhone and Firefox then monopolies can be broken down very quickly. Rather than constantly knocking Microsoft, I wish bodies like the FSF would seriously consider what a world without Windows would look like. Yes, Linux is making great strides but at the moment corporates and individuals want hassle-free mass market software, and Linux just can’t deliver that yet.

A very good attempt at recreating the Windows 7 experience on Windows XP has been pulled together in the SevenVG RTM theme for Windows XP. A number of resources have been upgraded in the theme to match Windows 7 RTM.
